Five Products to Help you have Beautiful Skin all Winter

When the weather outside is frightful, you want to make sure your skin is in its most beautiful condition ever. Low temps, blustery winds, dry air and the hot showers we KNOW you’re taking won’t help your skin be in the best condition it can be in.

Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. Check out these five products to help you have beautiful skin all winter:

five-products-beautiful-winter-skin-confettii-collective

Creamy cleanser – you definitely want to make sure your skin is clean, BUT stay away from harsh cleansers that can strip the natural oils from your skin. Something creamy and milk-based is just what you need to clean without overdrying.

Lip balm – the skin on the lips are much thinner than everywhere else on the body, so keeping your lips soft and supple are muy importante. Stick with products that contain natural ingredients like avocado or coconut oil, vitamin E or even shea butter for an extra layer of conditioning.

Low temps, blustery winds, dry air and hot showers don't help your skin be in the best condition it can be in. Click To Tweet

Eye cream – the skin around the eye is thin, very delicate and has less oil glands than the rest of your skin A little extra TLC in the form of an eye cream is  what you need to help reduce puffiness, minimize underage bags and fine lines and reduce dark circles.

Body butter – This almost goes without saying, considering Mo is known for her whipped shea butter. When you’re fresh out of your hot shower (that you just can’t give up..not judging), apply your favorite butter to damp skin to lock in much-needed moisture. Avocado butter is definitely worth considering.

Sunscreen – Just because the temperatures aren’t close to triple digits, that doesn’t mean you can skip protecting your skin from the sun. UVA/UVB rays can damage you skin by causing wrinkling, brown spots or worse. Get more bang for your buck by using a moisturizer with SPF if you’re concerned about clogging pores. Anything over SPF 30 is ideal. A top pick of ours is Paula’s Choice Skin Balancing Ultra Sheer Daily Defense Broad Spectrum SPF 30, use this link and get $10 off your first order.

Here’s a BONUS for ya –

Humidifier – you’re probably keeping your home nice and toasty this time of year, be careful that your skin isn’t drying out from all that cozy warmth. Replenish the moisture in the air with a humidifier (Mo runs hers while she sleeps).

There you have it, kiss your winter beauty whose goodbye with these five (plus one) products. And not that they’re ONLY good to use during wintertime, a beauty like you knows the value of timeless advice when she reads it 🙂

Be a friend and share this with a beauty you know, she’ll love you for it. <3

How to Use Less Essential Oil and Save $$$

If you’re a fan of essential oils, use them regularly, and have fallen in love with all of their amazing benefits,  you also know that they can be pretty expensive…there, the truth is out.

Lemon, peppermint and lavender are fairly common essential oils that are on the lower end of the cost spectrum compared to others, but what if you want to take things up a notch?

What if you could use less oil AND save money on the more exotic essential oils out there?

Enter copaiba. (ko-pah-ee-bah)

Copaiba is an essential oil, diffused from the South American Copaifera tree, and is known for its antibacterial, analgesic, anti fungal and aromatherapy properties. This essential oil is also used to promote overall wellness.

What a lot of people don’t know is that copaiba is ALSO a “booster” for other essential oils; adding a few drops of copaiba oil to another essential oil amplifies the effects of the oil!

Touted for its exceptionally high amount of beta caryophyllene (55%), which is a compound known for its ability to regulate the body’s reaction to irritation (indigestion, body aches, inflammation, etc.)

This means that you can use less of your more expensive oils and save a few bucks. Definitely a #winning situation 🙂

From the Fridge to your Face

A spa facial can be just what we need after an especially hectic month…week…day. For those of us that can’t make it to our favorite esthetician every time the mood strikes, you can pamper yourself DIY-style with these fridge to face recipes:

fridge-to-face-dig-beauty-mask-inline

Strawberry milk mask (softening and exfoliation) – mix 1/2 cup fresh strawberries with 1tsp milk into a paste and smooth all over face and neck after cleansing. Allow to dry for 20 minutes and rinse with warm water.
Tomato yogurt mask (acne fighting and oil reducer) – smash the pulp of 1/2 -1 ripe tomato & mix with 1 tsp plain yogurt and apply to clean face with fingers or face brush. Leave on for 10-15 minutes and rinse with warm water.
Raspberry honey mask (moisturizing and anti-aging) – mix 7-10 raspberries with 1/2 tsp of raw honey in a blender. Apply to freshly washed face and leave on for up to 10 minutes and rinse thoroughly.

Whether you apply your mask in the morning or before bed, don’t skip your moisturizer afterwards. There’s no point in taking the time to make your own  natural beauty treatments if you’re going to miss the opportunity to hydrate your skin.

If you mix your masks in advance, keep in mind you can safely store each mixture for up to two days in the fridge. After that, if you haven’t used your concoction, toss it. No beauty DIY is worth you getting sick.

So, the next time to head to the fridge for something to snack on, don’t forget to check for the perfect ingredients to make your next beauty treatment…on a budget.
