Leave it to nature to give us the best of what we need to look and feel our best. If you’re a fan of green tea for it’s amazing health benefits, you’ll LOVE matcha because the name literally means “powdered tea”.
Matcha green tea powder is a superfood that is full of antioxidants that fight the free radicals and UV rays that speed up the aging process.
There’s a lot of new words and acronyms that I learned when I went natural back in 2008…LOC, pre-poo and porosity, which is the hair’s ability to absorb moisture.
Natural hair THRIVES in moisture, so starting the journey with learning your hair’s porosity is vital.
I did the porosity test a few years ago and learned that I had high porosity hair. Two months ago I did a big chop, and I’m pretty sure that my porosity has changed.
I’m not a trichologist but I know my hair. Now what??
I’ll be sharing more about the changes that I’ve made in my regimen since my “discovery”. If there’s something in particular that you want to know more about let me know, we leave no curlfriend behind!
Between work, school, taking care of your home, errands, raising a family, and whatever else life throws at you, the days can get pretty packed to capacity. You may be running at warp speed right now, so with the lazy days of summer rolling in, you probably want to get away from it all.
If heading to the nearest warm weather destination isn’t in the cards for you right now, you have create your very own slaycation (because your slay doesn’t take a day off) to relax, relate and release without breaking your budget.
Plan a meal using only fresh produce that’s in season right now- pineapple, strawberries, cucumber, zucchini, etc.
Pay a visit to the areas that interest you in your neighborhood – museum, hiking trail, theater – act like a tourist.
Choose a bold, summer palette for your next mani-pedi and lipstick purchase.
Spend the entire day at the beach or at the pool.
Hire someone to clean your home for you…including windows.
Unleash your inner artist through painting, pottery, photography, let your creativity shine.
Go glamping (glam-camping) in your backyard.
Find someplace quiet and enjoy a 15-minute meditation session.
Have a picnic in the park and do some people watching.
Whip up your own spa products for a relaxing pampering session (rose water, bath salts, bath oil, body scrub).
Ride a bike.
Stay in your pajamas all day.
Put the ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign on your digital doorways. Just unplug.
Create your own personal film festival, choose a theme and build a playlist of the movies you want to watch.
Take a walk and explore your neighborhood.
Treat yourself to dinner at that restaurant you’ve been meaning to try.
Host a sleepover with your girlfriends.
Make your favorite dessert…and eat it for breakfast.
Give yourself permission to do this again in 3 months. 🙂
The key to keeping your slay on 100 is giving yourself time to disconnect from the daily to-dos and give yourself time to recharge.
Microblading is the new hotness. This semipermanent brow sculpting is the answer to every girl with over plucked, sparse, uneven brows dreams. Less permanent than a tattoo but good for up to 2 years of brow appointments, microblading is taking the beauty world by storm.
You don’t have to worry about your brows washing off at the pool, and it actually looks like actual hairs (a special pen-knife is used to “draw” feather strokes in the brow area). You can wave goodbye to your brow powder and/or pencil.
The key is finding the right person to do your microblading – this process calls for formal education and art; make sure that the person you choose to do your microblading is an artist that has received some type of training, complete with a certificate to prove it.
Recently we were granted exclusive access to record the process with Arizona’s premier brow and makeup artist, Acacia B. Brows.

We talk about embracing your natural beauty every day – and we believe that you deserve to look as beautiful as you feel…and if you can do that for 1-2 years at a time, that counts as a win in this book :-).
