We partnered with the ladies of JV’s Boba to create an intimate, elegant, informative experience and welcomed an exclusive group of people into their space for an afternoon of learning about the wellness benefits of high quality tea and a concierge tasting!

This wasn’t your grandmother’s tea party….we’re fancy like that.

With our FoundHER Mo as “Empress of Ceremonies”, our guests walked into a “winter oasis in the desert” to be loved on, educated and enjoy an AMAZING time!

Eight Habits to Make 2018 Epic

Happy New Year!!!!!!

2018 is here and we’re ready for a new beginning! You may have made (and broken) some resolutions, are gearing up for creating your vision board or decided that this is the year that you’ll have a theme for your year. We want to add to your awesome by giving you eight fresh tips to help you make 2018 epic.

  1. Have a sense of adventure. We dare you to try something new this year, experiment with something that can make you better. It doesn’t have to be a huge leap, either. Start small with a new hair treatment or try wearing a new article of clothing in color that you’ve never worn before.

  1. Carve out time for meditation or quiet time.  With so much going on in the world right now it’s easy to lose it trying to keep up. You may not be a fighter, but sometimes you have to fight for your peace.  Take time to get calm and allow your mind to rest. If you’re not sure where to begin, check out your app store for a tech-based option.

  1. Start a gratitude journal. Most of us don’t have any trouble finding our way to a pity party. Remember what you’re grateful for, it will help you gain perspective and realize how good you  really have it. Choosing to focus on what you’re thankful for can relieve anxiety and make the difference between a chill day and stressful one.

  1. 30 minutes of exercise, at least 3 days a week. Heart disease is the number one killer of women in US, 1in 3 deaths every year. Your heart is a muscle that needs to stay strong. Work it out!

  1. Make your bed. This may seem like a minor thing, but making your bed in the morning sets the tone for your day. You can build on that small accomplishment to be more productive throughout your day. If you don’t believe in the power of making your bed, check out this speech by ADM William McRaven.

  1. Take detox baths. With the combination of epsom salt & baking soda, we guarantee you’ll sleep like a baby. These two household staples can help lower blood pressure, increase your circulation and get your heart rate pumping (almost like working out). Check out this blog post for more details on the power of the detox bath.

  1. Get on a sleep schedule – and stick to it. Sleep deprivation leads to high blood pressure & diminished cognition. When you don’t get enough rest your body also produces more the the “hunger hormone“, causing you to overeat. Your body needs to reset, go to bed!

  1. Stretch your mind. Chances are we all know somebody that is willfully ignorant, just content with being out of know. Don’t be like them, continue expanding what you read, watch and stay intellectually curious in 2018.

We can’t guarantee you that your new year will be free from drama if you just follow these tips. BUT, we can assure you that these eight habits will definitely lead you in the right direction to having an epic 2018.

7 Things to Leave Behind in 2017

The New Year is upon us, and everybody you know is claiming their “New Year New Me” mantra and posting on social media about all of the people they’ll be cutting off.

If you’re the kind of girl that plans ahead you might be thinking about your 2018 goals and how you’ll make the year amazing. Out with the old and in with the new, right? Except, we’re not making resolutions that we won’t keep this time around.

If you want 2018 the Year of your Glow-Up, here are 7 things that you need to leave behind in 2017:

  1. Negative Relationships. The days are over for chasing behind people, being a doormat, and interactions that subtract from your spirit. Let them go in 2018! Don’t be a participant in your own destruction. If you’re not sure how to tell if a person has your best interest at heart read this blog post for some clues on how to spot a toxic person.
  2. Not Doing. Planning is great, you should be in the habit of thinking before you act. BUT, the time comes when the best-laid plans should turn into doing the work. Decide that 2018 will be the year of action for you. While everybody else is talking about what they’re “going to do”, you’ll actually be doing.
  3. Regret. “To err is human”. Nobody is exempt from making mistakes in life, but the way you deal with your blunders is all about your perspective. Make a choice to appreciate the mistakes you’ve made; you’ve probably learned a lot from them.
  4. Self-doubt. The world does a good enough job of trying to convince us that we’re missing some secret quality that determines success. Hogwash! Leave those thoughts of inadequacy in 2017! You were created for a purpose, and all you have to do is confidently step over your doubt and into your 2018 destiny.
  5. Ex-Anything. Ex-significant other, ex-friend, ex-boss/coworker, ex-hookup…they ended up in the ex category for a reason. Don’t jeopardize your 2018 glow-up for old news.
  6. Comparison-itis. Jealousy is an ugly color. Instead of looking at what someone else has and hating on it, be inspired to shine yourself!
  7. Self-hate. If 2017 was the Year of the Woman, 2018 is the Year of the Woman that Loves Herself Unconditionally. If there’s anything that you have learned/will learn from us, it’s the importance of self-love. We inspire confidence by reminding you that you were fearfully and wonderfully made, everything about you was divinely created.

Whether your new year begins on January 1 or on your birthday, it’s a great time for a refreshing clean slate. We’re looking forward to kicking 2018 off on a high note by leaving everything behind the doesn’t serve positivity.

Five Tips to Manage Holiday Stress

The holidays can be VERY stressful for many. Gift lists, mandatory work events,  lost packages, putting up the tree…it’s enough to make a woman crazy. When you’re stressed it’s difficult to think clearly, so you end up starting the year off with regret. We want you to have the BEST year ever and kick things off on the highest of high notes so you can be your most FABulous self.

We don’t want you to be stressed out during the holiday season. We want you to be healthy, happy and whole while you drink and be merry. So let’s handle this business right now, okay?

Five Tips to Manage Holiday Stress

Luh yourself first/enough – Remember that you are fearfully and wonderfully made; and you’re probably surrounded by people that make withdrawals from you (family, co-workers, friends, etc.). It’s especially important to make yourself a priority during the holidays, because you have thangs to do.

Receive – Allow others to pour into you as you pour into them.

Let your yes be yes, no be no – Don’t succumb to pressure of being (or doing) anything you don’t want to do, and say don’t feel guilty about doing the things you love. No is a complete sentence. So is yes.

Don’t try to change ’em – With the exception of the children that you may be responsible for nurturing, you can’t make anybody do anything. Stay away from the Twitter beefs and resolve to accept folks as they are; you just change the way you all them to affect you.

Protect ya newsfeed – Social media can suck. Guard your online spaces like you would your home.

 

Everybody around you will benefit when you manage holiday stress. The bar may have been set very high for you (at your own doing), but we don’t want you to suffer from negative vibes. Use these tips to manage stress and enjoy your most confident holiday season yet.

Our Confident Future

As 2017 comes to a close, you might be thinking about how you want to spend your 2018. A desire to enjoy life to the fullest is something we should all aspire to, right? The transition from one year into the next is prime time for an evolution in your personal or professional life.

You might be making a list of your accomplishments this past year.

You might be cleaning house, literally and figuratively.

You might be setting goals and making plans to conquer the world.

The approach of a new year/new season presents an opportunity to reinvent ourselves, and at The Confetti Collective we’re not wasting this opportunity either.

During a recent live broadcast on our Facebook page, Mo made an announcement about our biggest evolution yet. It was so out-of-the-box that we’ve been asked what prompted this decision.

The still, small voice in us doesn’t steer us wrong, and we struggled with this decision for months before it was finally clear that we should move forward. Once it was decided, we had a tremendous amount of peace (a clue that it’s the right decision…).

Anyhoo, we’re excited about our next level and we hope that you’re making your vision plain for yourself as well.

The Confidence to Be Your Own Beautiful – Women’s Confidence Night Recap

Women’s Confidence Night at Barnett Salon Suites was AMAZING! The team at Barnett coordinated speakers to cover a variety of topics that are of interest to women of all ages, including finances, makeup & hair care, sexuality and confidence.

As your Confidence Pusher, Mo did her signature, “The Confidence to Be Your Own Beautiful” talk where she went over 8 affirmations that would inspire the women in the audience to transform. Mo defines affirmations as “positive statements that help us deal with negative stuff”, and she had an answer for those in the room that tended to believe that affirmations aren’t worth it.

She said, “Words have power; otherwise you wouldn’t get mad when somebody calls you something other than your name.”

We had a room full of laughing, clapping, high-fives and many YAAASSSSS! comments in the room.

11 Affirmations to Inspire Confidence

Words matter. If you don’t believe it, read this post.

People use words in a very targeted way, and if you recognize that your confidence and self-esteem levels aren’t where they should bechanging what you say to yourself can be a great way to start your journey to a more confident you.

Affirmations are positive, specific statements that help you fight negativity. These statements can help you you to visualize, and believe in, what you’re saying, or affirming yourself. Doing this over and over again can help to make positive changes to your life.

You might be thinking that you’re strong, and words won’t help you anyway, so what’s the point?

Well, you have the power to control your thoughts, and if you think you’re not enough you can change that. If you think you don’t have what it takes you can change that. If you think you’re undeserving you can change that.

Once you become aware of the connection between your thoughts and your reality, you’ll make the effort to change it. Affirmations can help you change your thoughts and change your life.

If you’re not sure where to start, or what you can say to help inspire confidence, these affirmations can help:

  • Beauty isn’t something I have; beauty is something I am.
  • I release negative thoughts about myself.
  • I love who I am.
  • I validate myself.
  • I am fearfully and wonderfully made.

When your confidence increases, you happiness increases.

Repeat as many of these affirmations as you need to, as often as you need to. Just as you build muscles through repeated exercise, you will build your confidence through repeating affirmations and allowing them to penetrate as truth.

10 Signs He/She Might be a Toxic Friend

Friends are the family that we can choose. We look to our friends when times are good and when times are bad. We cherish meaningful connections with people that share our values and traditions. Having friends fosters a sense of belonging that every human desires.

The truth is, we need friends.

The philosopher Aristotle believes in the power of friendships too. Check out this quote:

“In poverty and other misfortunes of life, true friends are a sure refuge. They keep the young out of mischief; they comfort and aid the old in their weakness, and they incite those in the prime of life to noble deeds.”

Sometimes our desire to surround ourselves with people that we appreciate and care for can put us in relationships that don’t mean us well; we could end up in the company of harmful people disguising themselves as friends.

Here are 10 signs that he/she might be a toxic friend:

They’re untrustworthy. Trust is the foundation of any healthy relationship. If you can’t trust this person, don’t have them around you.

They’re always involved in drama. If drama seems to follow them everywhere, in every situation, you’ll likely be sucked into those situations with them.

They’re a freeloader. If they take advantage of others’s generosity, expect that they’ll take advantage of yours.

They’re self-centered. The world revolves around them. Nobody else matters, including you.

They don’t celebrate with you when you win. True friends root for you to rise. If your success makes them uncomfortable they’re not your friend.

They lack empathy. Someone that is incapable of empathy is a sociopath. That’s all.

They’re pessimistic. Like being around a Negative Nancy ALL THE TIME. Can’t be positive about anything.

They’re a gossip. The old folks used to say that a dog that brings a bone will carry a bone. If they’re gossiping with you about other people, they may be gossiping with other people about you.

They’re a bully. They’re not taking your lunch money or shoving you in a locker, but they may be attacking you emotionally, leaving you feeling like crap.

They’re inconsistent. Here one day, gone the next.

If you recognize these signs in the people you consider friends, take some time to evaluate your relationship. If the signs point to them being bad for you, do yourself a favor and let them go.

Do’s and Don’ts of Hair Steaming

Steaming is one of THEEEE best things you can do to pamper your natural hair, but if you’re relaxed and/or color treated, steaming should be in your hair care routine as well. Steam sessions work to hydrate dry hair by leaving thirsty tresses juicy and happy. The moist heat from a steamer also encourages blood flow to circulate, which promotes hair growth.

A steamer works by lifting the hair cuticle allowing your treatments (deep conditioner, oils, etc.) to penetrate deeply into the hair shaft and healing damaged hair.

But like with anything else, a steamer will only work IF YOU USE IT. Read on for the do’s and don’ts of hair steaming:

DO steam often.

DO steam for at least 20 minutes per session.

DO ensure the ends of your hair are accessible to the steam. They’re the oldest part of your hair.

DO allow your hair to cool after a steam session before rinsing (if you used conditioner) or applying product.

 

 

DON’T steam more than every 10-14 days, it’s possible to over moisturize your hair.

DON’T be afraid to experiment with herbs in your steam. For example, rosemary is great for strengthening hair and reducing breakage.

DON’T invest in a steamer before you know what your porosity is.

Steamers come in two types – handheld and hood. Depending on what your hair goals are, choosing the right one is key. Mo is a fan of the hood hair steamer, she uses the Huetiful Hair Steamer, you can see this steamer in action here.

If maintaining moisture is an issue for you, a steamer can be a great option for transforming your hair into it’s healthiest version. You’ll enjoy hair that is lush and luscious 🙂
