Unless you've been under a rock somewhere you know that…
Glycerin is a popular ingredient in both hair and skin care products. The humectant properties attract and trap moisture, making it ideal for fighting dry skin and hair.
If you live in an area with little to no humidity, you may choose to stop using glycerine in their hair during drier months, but you don’t need to worry about what to do with your extra glycerin. We’ve got a few skin care recipes that will help you reap the benefits from head to toe. 😉
Eye Makeup Remover – combine 1 part glycerin with 2 parts distilled water and in a spray bottle and shake. Spray on cotton pad and dab on eye area.
Lip Balm – combine 1 tsp coconut oil, 1 tsp vitamin E, 1 tsp jojoba oil and 1 tsp glycerin, warm mixture in small saucepan ad stir. Pour mixture into a small container and allow to cool overnight or in fridge.
Firming Face Mask – mix 1 tbsp honey, 1 egg white, 1 tsp glycerin and enough flour to form a paste. Whisk ingredients and apply to skin, leaving on for 10-15 minutes. Remove mask with warm washcloth and rinse off residue.
*NOTE: Make sure you use vegetable glycerin in these recipes.
These beauty recipes should carry you through the drier times of the year, and by the time you need to replenish your glycerin, it will be time to shed those layers again 😉
