Did you know that there was such a thing at…
Many of the Sierra Vista locals have heard of the “purple truck”. For the unaware, the aforementioned truck is a fashion boutique…on wheels. Fortunately for you, we were able to wrangle an interview out of the owner of the purple truck, Natecia “Nat” Daniel, where she shares how the truck came to be, and a few other things you might be curious about.
What does fashion mean to you?
Fashion, to me, means freedom. I believe that fashion is a way to (artistically) express yourself on a daily basis. It depicts your mood, emotion, feeling but is also tangible.
When did you realize you wanted to own a boutique?
I became aware of fashion/style in high school. I realized I wanted to own something (tea house, bakery, boutique) when I was in my late 20’s.
How did your company start?
My company started when I saw an article in Sunset Magazine about Le Fashion Truck; a mobile boutique in LA. BOOM!!! I was done! That was Feb of 2012. By March I had the vehicle, by June I was on a buying trip to LA, by July Hans & I were building the truck, and by August I was open!!! Crazy fast!!
Do you have plans to design clothes as well?
I plan on having my own line in the truck by 2015. I started sketching in high school and, upon graduating, attended the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in LA but was unable to complete the course. But, design is always in the back of my mind.
Who are some of your favorite designers?
I don’t have a favorite designer but I like Alexander McQueen (deceased), Valentino, Stella McCartney, Dolce & Gabanna, for their avant garde-ness!!
What advice would you give to someone looking to work in fashion?
Anyone who wants to work in fashion has got to have a high energy level and be able to adapt to change at a moments notice. Fashion changes daily!! Also, do your homework; stay up on EVERYTHING that’s happening in the world art-wise.
How would you define the style your boutique exemplifies?
What are some of your fashion goals?
Where do you get your inspiration?
I get it everywhere!!! Music, architecture, art, the sky, the seasons…..it’s all around me and I’m always listening!
Where can readers find out more about you and your boutique?
