Unless you've been under a rock somewhere you know that…
We all know that in cooler/colder weather layering is the best method to: 1.) help you stay warm and 2.) give you options to prevent overheating. Too cold? Add a layer. Getting hot? Take something off.
When it comes to our clothing layering gives the flexibility you need to adjust our comfort level according to the environment. Too cold? Add a layer. Getting hot? Take something off.
What does that have to do with applying hair products?
Generally speaking, your new growth (the hair closest to your scalp) is the healthiest, and your hair ages as it grows out. So that means that your ends are the oldest and driest part of your hair and need the most TLC.
Following this “rule”, you can bet that focusing on moisture with less protein for your new growth area is best, as you travel down your hair shaft, moisture AND protein are needed. Styling, hair rubbing on our clothes and the environment all contribute to the ends of our hair taking a beating. Rest assured that your moisture and protein will help keep your locks looks luscious.
Note: you don’t have to go to extremes to find the product that’s the perfect blend of moisture and protein for your ends, use what you already have! Use your regular moisture-based leave-in or daily conditioner and add a protein-based product for the ends of your hair.
