Seven Ways Peppermint Oil Can Help You Live a Healthier Lifestyle

We’ve said it before, we’ll say it again: essential oils are the bee’s knees if you’re living a naturalista lifestyle. Peppermint oil is one potent powerhouse; keep reading to find out how this essential oil can help you live a healthier lifestyle.

On your head. A few drops massaged on your forehead and temples can help calm those “banging” headaches.

In your mouth. Add few drops of peppermint oil to a glass of water and swish around in your mouth to freshen breath and fight dry mouth.

On your face. Add a few drops to your facial cleanser to brighten dull skin, control excess oil and help prevent clogged pores.

In your hair. Adding peppermint oil to your favorite shampoo or conditioner helps balance hair pH, smoothing the strands and adding shine.

On your scalp. Massaging the scalp with peppermint oil (dilute with a carrier oil first) can stimulate the oxygen supply to hair follicles and promote hair growth. In a 2014 study, topical applications of peppermint oil were applied over a 4-week period and was shown to induce a rapid anagen phase,  resulting in a “significant increase in dermal thickness, follicle number and follicle depth” (source).

*Note: Peppermint essential oil suits every hair and scalp type, considering it is very concentrated, diluting with a carrier oil to avoid any skin irritation.

In your gut. Peppermint oil helps support healthy digestion by relieving indigestion, nausea, abdominal pain and upset stomach. AND the aroma has the ability to help you feel fuller faster during a meal.

In your home environment. Suffering from a cold, allergies or nasal/chest congestion? Diffuse a few drops of peppermint essential oil with water (in your humidifier would work as well) and breathe in the vapor.

Essential oils have been around since the beginning of time, and if you’re looking to reduce/eliminate synthetic chemicals from your lifestyle they are a good place to start.
